How it works

Applied for, reviewed, then granted

Access is subject to approval. Every applicant is reviewed to help ensure that our data is used responsibly.

Three steps from application to access

  1. 1

    Apply

Tell us who you are, what you intend to do with the data, who will use it, and how it will be stored, shared and deleted.

    • Applicant and organisation details
    • Companies House number
    • ICO registration number, or an explanation if one is not required
    • Intended uses and expected export volumes
  2. 2

Barcadia verifies the organisation and intended use

Our team checks the organisation against Companies House and the ICO register by hand, reviews the stated purpose and considers any risk flags. This is a human review, not an automated lookup.

    • Manual Companies House and ICO register checks
    • Review of intended uses against source licences
    • Assessment of onward recipients and processors
    • Approve, request more information, or decline
  3. 3

    Approved users receive controlled access

Access is scoped to the approved purpose and plan. What each user can see and export follows from that decision, not from a checkout.

    • Purpose-scoped visibility
    • Export allowance set by plan (upcoming, with the export pipeline)
    • Named users and permissions
    • Retained export history (upcoming)

After approval

Approval is not permanent or unconditional. If your intended use changes, tell us — the approved purpose is what determines availability. We will honour suppression requests and privacy requests wherever we hold data about you, and once exporting is available every export will be recorded so that both sides can account for what was released and when.
